The soft tissues of your cheeks and neck descend with aging and gravity. A facelift will counter this by removing excess skin and tightening the remaining tissues in the mid and lower face as well as neck. Because gravity and the aging process affect individuals at different times, there is no “right time” to start thinking about a facelift. Both men and women who are concerned about improving the signs of facial aging are candidates for a facelift.
“Thank you again for helping me look my best for my daughter’s wedding. The entire groom’s side and some of the people from my side “who knew me” thought I was one of the bridesmaids. They didn’t realize I was the mother-of-the-bride until the priest called the mothers up to the altar to light the candles. I received so many compliments on my appearance, and, of course, your work was a major contributing factor. Thank you again for your expertise.” —Facelift Patient
Facelift Surgery and Recovery
Using limited incisions we begin by tightening the skin, lifting loose jowls, redefining the jawline, and eliminating sagging tissue around the lips and nose. Our focus is on natural lifting techniques that do not change the appearance of our patients’ facial features. We have also developed a unique Rapid Recovery perioperative program combining special skin stimulating creams applied preoperatively with oral herbal medications, intraoperative use of tissue glue, intravenous medications, and postoperative manual lymphatic drainages massage. This program allows our patients to experience minimal swelling and bruising and a shorter recovery time.
Facelifts are often performed in conjunction with brow lift and/or eyelid lift to restore facial appearance to a more youthful, rested state while achieving the most aesthetically pleasing result. A facelift is performed under general anesthesia and takes roughly 3½ hours. Patients are monitored overnight in our surgical facility by a registered nurse. After surgery, there is very little pain and most patients do not request medication. Stitches are removed within one week. Swelling and discoloration subside within 10 to 14 days. Camouflage make-up may be applied after one week. Patients may return to normal activities in 10 to 14 days and exercise in two to three weeks.
