Upper Arm Lift
Procedure Snapshot
Also called “brachioplasty,” an arm lift removes excess, hanging skin from the upper arms to restore a firmer contour. Arm lift surgery can help you feel more confident in your appearance.
Cost & Recovery
- $6,000 to $10,020*
- Most patients can return to a desk job within several days after surgery.
Quick Facts
- Significant weight loss is a common reason that men seek arm lift surgery
- Patients with good skin elasticity may achieve good results with liposuction alone**

Aging and weight fluctuation can cause excess fat and/or sagging skin to occur in the upper arms. This can make many people self-conscious about wearing summer clothing. And unfortunately, this condition cannot be fully remedied with exercise or diet. Men also may consider getting a inner thigh lift after significant weight loss.
There are two cosmetic procedures that can be used to treat this condition: liposuction and brachioplasty.

Arm Contouring With Liposuction
Liposuction will help most patients by removing fat and achieving mild skin tightening. If you have good skin tone and your main concern is excess fat around the upper arm, this will likely be your best option.
The Procedure
- Liposuction performed as an outpatient procedure
- It uses intravenous sedation and local anesthesia
- A tiny incision is hidden in the armpit area and another by the elbow
- Through these incisions a cannula is inserted to gently break up the fat cells and remove them using suction

Brachioplasty
Removing fat alone will not cause sagging, stretched skin to contract. Patients with severely drooping skin on the upper arms will need to have that skin surgically excised. This procedure is called a brachioplasty, or upper arm lift. It is a more extensive procedure, but can dramatically improve your comfort wearing tailored shirts and help you feel more confident baring your arms in public. Brachioplasty is a common procedure for men who have lost significant weight and now have excess skin hanging from their arms.
The Arm Lift Procedure
- Brachioplasty performed as an outpatient procedure at our private, fully accredited surgical facility
- It uses intravenous sedation and local anesthesia
- The incision runs on the back side of the upper arm from the elbow to the armpit
- The scar will fade by the end of a year and possibly much sooner, as we’re all different when it comes to scarring
- Your result will be tighter, smoother arms that look years younger
