Addressing physical changes following pregnancy: Loose abdominal skin, stretched stomach muscles, and deflated, sagging breasts can’t be fixed by exercising and dieting alone.
Combining procedures means planning for only one recovery: You can accomplish all of your aesthetic goals at once, saving you time in the long run versus undergoing several surgeries.
Enhances the fit and comfort of clothing: You can again enjoy wearing your favorite bras, swimsuits, fitted dresses, and waistbands. Many patients are able to wear fitted dresses for the first time in years after their procedures and can work out without wearing 2 sports bras.
Restoring confidence: One of the most important benefits of mommy makeover surgery is how much it can enhance your confidence.

Time in surgery varies for each patient, depending on the procedures Dr. Parker is performing, and typically lasts several hours. Depending on the extent of surgery, you may be able to go home after an hour or two in our recovery suite. If your surgery is extensive, you may need post-op monitoring in our aftercare facility or in the comfort of your own home by a private duty nurse.

This includes a discussion of what to do to prepare for surgery, what occurs on the day of surgery, and what to expect after surgery during your recovery. It’s a detailed session that really educates our patients about the entire surgical process at the Parker Center. Patients tell us they love it because they feel so well-prepared for their surgery. What Is Mommy Makeover Recovery Like?
Because a mommy makeover procedure can be customized to address specific concerns, the recovery varies from patient to patient. For example, if you had a tummy tuck as part of your mommy makeover, recovery will normally take longer than if you had only breast enhancement and liposuction. Most patients, however, can expect their recoveries to follow this general timeline:
Week 1: During the first week, you’ll need plenty of sleep as your body recovers from major surgery. Limit your activities to sleeping, eating, and getting up for bathroom breaks and brief walks around the house to keep your blood moving. Walking slightly hunched over is normal.
Week 2: You’ll still need a lot of rest, but the most difficult part of the recovery is behind you. You may transition from prescription pain medication to over-the-counter pain relievers. If you had a tummy tuck as part of the procedure, it’s still important to refrain from lifting anything heavy, including toddlers.
Weeks 3 to 4: Most patients can resume normal daily activities within 2 to 4 weeks. More strenuous activities, such as lifting, exercising, and working at physically demanding jobs, can be resumed after 4 to 6 weeks. Depending on the age of your children, you may need childcare help during the first few weeks until you are cleared to lift and carry heavier items.
Rapid Recovery Mommy Makeover
The Parker Center’s Rapid Recovery techniques used during and after mommy makeover surgery help you heal more rapidly and comfortably than what you might experience at another practice. This means less time off from work and a sooner return to your normal activities.
Dr. Parker’s Rapid Recovery protocol includes:
Short-acting anesthetic agents and anti-emetic medications to hasten the recovery from anesthesia
A tailored regimen of medications given before, during, and after surgery to minimize postoperative pain, swelling, and bruising
Three postoperative medical manual lymphatic drainage massages to reduce swelling and bruising as well as accelerate healing
Topically applied state-of-the-art scar cream to help minimize the scars’ appearance.
The day after your mommy makeover surgery, you can shower and resume light activities. We encourage you to move around briefly starting the first day to boost circulation.
Most patients experience minimal discomfort, and the dissolvable sutures don’t need removal. If you have a desk job, plan to take several days off. You can usually start light exercise within 2 weeks and upper body exercises within 3 to 4 weeks. You should be back to unrestricted activity in 4 to 6 weeks.
We encourage you to move around briefly starting the first day to boost circulation.
Our Signature
Rapid Recovery Program
Our surgical procedures, anesthesia, medications, and aftercare are tailored to minimize post-operative discomfort and accelerate recuperation.
How well you prepare for your surgery and recovery can have a positive impact on your healing and results. We suggest:
Preparing your home by stocking up on healthy meals and essentials
Arranging for help with child care and household duties
Taking adequate time off work (most patients benefit from 2 weeks of downtime)
Filling and picking up medications prior to surgery
Ensuring you have comfortable clothing that can be easily donned and removed post-surgery
Setting up a suitable recovery and sleep area (many patients find a recliner to be the most comfortable for sleep in the first week or two after surgery)
Getting adequate hydration and rest in the days leading up to surgery
Taking gentle walks post-surgery to boost circulation and keep blood clots at bay
Staying hydrated and eating a nutritious diet after surgery to aid recovery
Wearing your compression garment to reduce swelling
Caring for your incisions properly, including avoiding getting them wet
Exercising patience—your results will take time to manifest as bruising and swelling gradually subside
Can I Get a Mommy Makeover Without Surgery?
If you are not quite ready for surgery, Dr. Parker and our Medi-Spa team can help you design a nonsurgical mommy makeover, including the latest treatments and technologies. This is a very popular option for women who are not yet finished having children, but who would like to address stubborn fat deposits, skin laxity, and signs of aging in the meantime. Common choices include:
How close to my ideal weight should I be before surgery?
You should be within about 15 pounds of the weight you intend to maintain with a BMI of 30 or less before undergoing mommy makeover surgery. This minimizes the risk of complications during the procedure and helps you maintain your results.
Will I need help during the recovery period?
Yes, it’s important to have a reliable support system during the first weeks of your recovery. You can also prepare for the recovery by having meals pre-cooked and arranging for child care, if necessary.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t get a mommy makeover?
People with certain health concerns shouldn’t undergo elective surgery. Additionally, you should have realistic expectations about the procedure, the recovery, and the results.
Is the surgery painful?
Mommy makeover surgery is performed with the patient under a general anesthetic, so you’ll remain comfortable during the operation. You can take prescription pain medication during the first week or so of your recovery to manage discomfort.
How long will my results last?
The results of a mommy makeover that includes a tummy tuck and breast enhancement surgery are long-lasting, provided you lead a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and a nutritious diet. The aging process ultimately takes a toll, but you should enjoy the results for years.
