At Parker Center, we understand that it’s not easy for everyone to accept these changes. If you are struggling to feel good in your body despite a healthy diet and consistent exercise, it may be time to consider a mommy makeover to address your concerns. As he does for many women from Ridgewood and throughout Bergen County, North New Jersey, and surrounding areas, Dr. Parker can customize your procedure plan to help you regain confidence in your appearance and feel as beautiful as you are.

How Much Does a Mommy Makeover Cost in New Jersey?

At Parker Center in New Jersey, the cost of a mommy makeover will depend on the type and number of procedures you are having as well as the extent of surgery needed to achieve your goals. At your cosmetic consultation, you will receive a detailed price quote based on the procedure plan you and Dr. Parker discuss. This will include all costs involved: surgeon’s fees, anesthesia, operating room fees, implants and/or post-surgical garments, and your pre- and post-operative care.

What Are the Benefits of a Mommy Makeover?

There are a number of benefits unique to mommy makeover surgery that make it an excellent option for busy, active moms. They include:

  • Addressing physical changes following pregnancy: Loose abdominal skin, stretched stomach muscles, and deflated, sagging breasts can’t be fixed by exercising and dieting alone.
  • Combining procedures means planning for only one recovery: You can accomplish all of your aesthetic goals at once, saving you time in the long run versus undergoing several surgeries.
  • Enhances the fit and comfort of clothing: You can again enjoy wearing your favorite bras, swimsuits, fitted dresses, and waistbands. Many patients are able to wear fitted dresses for the first time in years after their procedures and can work out without wearing 2 sports bras.
  • Restoring confidence: One of the most important benefits of mommy makeover surgery is how much it can enhance your confidence.

What Is Mommy Makeover Recovery Like?

Because a mommy makeover procedure can be customized to address specific concerns, the recovery varies from patient to patient. For example, if you had a tummy tuck as part of your mommy makeover, recovery will normally take longer than if you had only breast enhancement and liposuction. Most patients, however, can expect their recoveries to follow this general timeline:

Week 1: During the first week, you’ll need plenty of sleep as your body recovers from major surgery. Limit your activities to sleeping, eating, and getting up for bathroom breaks and brief walks around the house to keep your blood moving. Walking slightly hunched over is normal.

Week 2: You’ll still need a lot of rest, but the most difficult part of the recovery is behind you. You may transition from prescription pain medication to over-the-counter pain relievers. If you had a tummy tuck as part of the procedure, it’s still important to refrain from lifting anything heavy, including toddlers.

Weeks 3 to 4: Most patients can resume normal daily activities within 2 to 4 weeks. More strenuous activities, such as lifting, exercising, and working at physically demanding jobs, can be resumed after 4 to 6 weeks. Depending on the age of your children, you may need child care help during the first few weeks until you are cleared to lift and carry heavier items.

Frequently Asked Questions

How close to my ideal weight should I be before surgery?

You should be within about 15 pounds of the weight you intend to maintain with a BMI of 30 or less before undergoing mommy makeover surgery. This minimizes the risk of complications during the procedure and helps you maintain your results.

Will I need help during the recovery period?

Yes, it’s important to have a reliable support system during the first weeks of your recovery. You can also prepare for the recovery by having meals pre-cooked and arranging for child care, if necessary.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t get a mommy makeover?

People with certain health concerns shouldn’t undergo elective surgery. Additionally, you should have realistic expectations about the procedure, the recovery, and the results.

Is the surgery painful?

Mommy makeover surgery is performed with the patient under a general anesthetic, so you’ll remain comfortable during the operation. You can take prescription pain medication during the first week or so of your recovery to manage discomfort.

How long will my results last?

The results of a mommy makeover that includes a tummy tuck and breast enhancement surgery are long-lasting, provided you lead a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and a nutritious diet. The aging process ultimately takes a toll, but you should enjoy the results for years.
