How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

The laser absorbs melanin in the hair follicle, causing enough heat to damage the hair follicle without harming the surrounding skin. Hair follicles must be in the active growth phase (anagen) for the treatment to work. Because our BBL device treats many hairs at once, we can address even large areas of unwanted hair.

Where Can Laser Hair Removal Be Used?

Our BBL device is safe for hair removal practically anywhere you have unwanted hair, including:

• Face (between the eyebrows, upper lip, cheeks, under the chin)
• Underarms
• Chest, shoulders, and back
• Bikini line
• Legs

Can Laser Hair Removal Be Used on All Skin and Hair Colors?

Laser hair removal with BBL is only safe for hair removal on light-colored skin types. It’s ideally suited for people with fair skin and brown or black hair. It is not effective for treating white or gray hair.

Can You Get Laser Hair Removal on Tanned Skin?

Tanning is not advised 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after each BBL treatment because of the risk of complications like blistering and discoloration. Avoid self-tanners for at least a month before each treatment as well.

Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?

Laser hair removal treatments are gentle and involve little to no discomfort. A topical anesthetic may be used on sensitive areas if desired.

How Many Sessions Do You Need for Laser Hair Removal?

Typically, a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is enough to remove the hair, leaving the area smooth and hair-free.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

A series of treatments performed at consistent intervals permanently reduces hair growth for most patients. For the most complete results, treatments should be performed during each hair’s active growth cycle. Many individuals will opt for annual touch-ups to maintain their smooth skin.
