Correction of Inverted Nipples

Ten to twenty percent of women have inverted, or retracted nipples. Though this is not a health risk, patients may be bothered by their appearance or it may pose problems with breast feeding. Inverted nipples are connected to breast tissue beneath it by bands of connective tissue.

Non surgical treatment of inverted nipples, such as coaxing the nipple with ice, stimulation, rolling or a plastic breast shell can provide temporary correction of the problem for breast feeding. Women seeking a lasting solution to the problem can undergo a simple, 20 minute, minimal incision in-office procedure under local anesthesia to release the constricting bands and correct the problem. This procedure can be done alone or in conjunction with other breast surgeries such as breast augmentation, lift and reduction.

Correction of Nipple Hypertrophy (Enlarged Nipple)

Nipple size is dependent on genetics, breast development, size of the breast and size of the areola. Patients who are self conscious about the size of their large or overprojecting nipples can undergo a simple, 20 minute, minimal incision in-office procedure under local anesthesia to reduce the size of the nipple. This procedure can be done alone or in conjunction with other breast surgeries such as augmentation, lift and reduction.
