The Parker Center for Plastic Surgery Introduces Use of Keller Funnel™ in Silicone Breast Augmentation Procedures

Dr. Paul M.Parker and the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery of Paramus, NJ announce the use of the new Keller Funnel™ in all silicone breast augmentation New Jersey patients.

Paramus, NJ (PRWEB) April 03, 2012 – Dr. Paul M. Parker is committed to bringing his New Jersey breast augmentation patients the latest and most innovative surgical advances. Use of the Keller Funnel™¸ a new insertion device for silicone breast implants, has many advantages over the traditional digital (finger) insertion.

Inspired by a pastry bag, the Keller Funnel™ was recently introduced by a Florida plastic surgeon. The Keller Funnel™ is a cone shaped sleeve with a slick interior surface, made of nylon, that allows the surgeon to propel a silicone breast implant into place without the implant ever touching the patient’s skin or surgeon’s hands. This “no-touch” technique is thought to reduce the potential for infection and capsular contracture.

“Because the Keller Funnel™ incorporates a “no-touch” technique for insertion of a silicone breast implant, it’s ideal to reduce any type of contamination or biofilm formation that could lead to infection or capsular contraction,” explained Dr. Parker.

Capsular contraction is a painful condition suffered by less than 10% of all breast augmentation patients in the U.S. It’s thought that in this small percentage of cases, patients suffer from a clinically undetectable small infection from contaminants on their skin. The resulting build up of scar tissue from this infection can cause capsular contracture. This condition can cause hardening and painful breasts in New Jersey plastic surgery patients.

There are several other advantages to the Keller Funnel™ in addition to the “no-touch” insertion technique. Because of the reduced amount of force necessary to place the implant, patients should sustain less bruising and less post-operative discomfort; the potential for implant rupture is also reduced. Incision areas and corresponding scarring will be smaller, and the surgery time is slightly reduced.

“The Keller Funnel™ is a relatively simple device that has only positive advantages for my silicone breast augmentation patients. It is a disposable, single use device that can be used with all varieties of gel implants. We’ve recently started using the device and have been very pleased. We’re always looking for new ways update and improve our procedures for the benefit of our patients,” Dr. Parker said.

The Keller Funnel can be used with a variety of gel implants during breast augmentation and can be sized to accommodate even the largest of implants. The device has been approved for distribution in Europe and is currently expanding into the Latin American and Asian markets.

“The Keller Funnel™ is a benefit to patients and surgeons alike. Rarely do we come across a product that can make a surgical procedure easier for the surgeon, safer for the patient and economical all at the same time,” Dr. Parker stated.

Breast augmentation New Jersey patients at the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery comment repeatedly how they appreciate the extensive educational information provided to them. The Parker Center for Plastic Surgery believes that patient education is a major factor in a successful surgical experience. Their commitment to patient education includes a consultation with New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Parker, a Sizing Session with his medical assistant and nurse, and an in depth education session with their nurse coordinator.

Patients are shown animated videos detailing their surgery, learn about the difference between silicone and saline implants, are encouraged to view dozens of before/after photos, read patient testimonials and even speak to former patients about their surgical experience. Dr. Parker believes that having open two-way communication with the exchange of all this information will give patients the best surgical experience possible.
