Diane is a 49-year old housewife and mother of four who recently lost over 130 lbs. with gastric bypass surgery and hard work in the gym. As a result of such dramatic weight loss, Diane was left with a large amount of drooping, excess skin.
“I was mostly concerned about my abdomen and my backside. I had so much excess skin that my backside looked like a shar-pei, you know the little dog with all the rolls & wrinkles. After my weight loss, I knew my body needed a lot of work,” explained Diane.
Earlier this year, Diane had a New Jersey breast lift with an augmentation. She was so pleased with the results that she was ready to take the next step and get a lower body lift. For Diane, this involved both a New Jersey tummy tuck and buttock lift.
Body lifts are usually performed on post-Bariatric patients after their weight has plateaued for 6 to 12 months. The surgery is necessary to remove the excess skin that is present and give the patient a new, smoother contour.
A lower body lift can include an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thigh lift and a buttock lift. An upper body lift includes an arm lift, a breast lift with or without augmentation and the upper back may also be sculpted to remove excess skin & rolls. Not every patient requires every procedure and Dr. Parker frequently assists patients in determining the best procedures for them to achieve maximum results.
“I’m in the gym at least four times a week and there was only so much I could do with squats and other exercises. I did as much as I could on my own and I needed Dr. Parker’s help for the rest,” Diane stated.
Diane learned about Dr. Parker & one other New Jersey plastic surgeon from her bariatric support group. In asking around, she also learned of several acquaintances who had surgery by Dr. Parker.
“I was pleased from the moment I met Dr. Parker and his staff. I felt that the staff worked well together, they were very professional, yet relaxed. I just felt that Dr. Parker’s office had much more of a personal touch. It made me feel so comfortable and not have any qualms about my surgery,” said Diane.
Diane had also spent a lot of time online researching the different procedures and was quite impressed with the Parker Center website. Diane took the time and used the website to educate herself and read about other patient’s profiles.
“Reading all the other patients stories, hearing about their experiences, helped me so much. I really wanted to pay it forward and tell my story to help other people who’ve had bariatric surgery and are interested in a body lift,” Diane said.
Diane’s husband and children were very supportive of her decision to have the surgery and even though they were nervous for her, they understood how much it meant to her.
They knew what Diane had been through to lose the weight and wanted her to feel better about herself.
“I’m so thrilled with how I look now. For the first time in my life, I feel like my body is in proportion. The results are amazing. Dr. Parker is truly very talented; he’s an artist with a vision. I look better than I ever could have imagined,” Diane stated.
