This 52 year old was referred to Dr. Parker by another patient, asking him to improve the fullness of and sagging skin in her neck. The patient was fine with the appearance of her face and really only wanted her neck addressed. Dr. Parker, after reviewing all options with the patient, performed a medial and lateral plastysmaplasty neck lift. During this procedure, using a relatively short, well-concealed submental incision, he removed excessive fat from beneath the plastyma muscles directly, then sutured them together (called a medial platysmaplasty). Using hidden incisions behind the ears, he then suspended the platysma muscles laterally (called a lateral platysmaplasty), suctioned the excess superficial fat and tightened her lax skin to give a natural, long lasting improved contour to the neck. The patient recovered relatively quickly afterwards. She loves the natural-appearing rejuvenated contour of her neck without any visible scars.
