Neck Contouring Before & After Case 1597

This 28 year old, referred by another patient, requested improvement in the appearance of her neck which has always been fuller than desired. The patient sais her weight has always been stable. She said other family members have the same issues. The patient is 5’1” tall and weighs 132 pounds. During the patient’s consultation with Dr. Parker, he explained given her history and examination, liposuction alone would not give her the results she wanted. He explained the need to remove deep-seated fat beneath the paired platysma muscles of her neck. Computer imaging was also performed to show the patient what she should look like after surgery. At surgery, several weeks later, using local anesthesia, Dr. Parker did the following. Using a short, well-concealed incision in the natural chin crease, he removed the excess fat from beneath the platysma muscles. He then sutured these muscles back together (called a "medial platysmaplasty"). Next, he performed liposuction from tiny access incisions behind each ear to help contour the jawline and outer portion of her neck. The patient was delighted with her quick and easy recovery. She loves the markedly improved contour of her neck and says she feels much more self-confident.
