Rhinoplasty Patient 31
This 21 year old requested Dr. Parker to improve the fullness of her neck and the appearance of her nose; specifically, she asked to have her nose made to appear somewhat smaller. Dr. Parker performed VASER ultrasonic liposuction on the patient’s neck, removing 50 cc of fat. During the same appointment, he performed an open rhinoplasty, rasping the nasal bones to make them appear smaller and somewhat more narrow. He also removed excess cartilage from the nasal tip and sculpted the remaining cartilage with sutures under direct vision to create a more delicate, refined tip. The patient experienced an appropriate amount of swelling in both areas, but little in the way of bruising and no pain. She is very please with the postoperative appearance of both her neck and nose.
A nose out of harmony with the rest of the face can be significant to a patient and alter their self image. The goal of nasal surgery is to achieve an improved but natural contour while correcting any internal deformities that may be causing breathing difficulties.
