Upper Eyelid Lift
Your eyes receive more attention day in and day out then any other feature which is why blepharoplasty is such a frequently selected procedure by both men and women. The drooping of upper eyelid skin results in a tired, sad look. In extreme cases there can even be obstruction of vision. An upper eyelid lift can create dramatic results, giving a fresh look and improved vision.

Upper Eyelid Lift Surgery and Recovery

The upper blepharoplasty incision is made in the eyelid fold, rendering it nearly invisible, yet dramatically restoring eyelids to give a fresh appearance to the eyes. It is often combined with a brow lift and/or facelift. The upper eyelid lift procedure takes 45 minutes and if performed alone can be with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. Patients are discharged after one hour. There is little postoperative pain. The eyes are not bandaged. Sutures are removed within five to six days. Swelling and discoloration subside within 10 to 14 days. Camouflage make-up may be applied after one week. Patients may return to normal activities in seven to ten days and exercise in two weeks.

“I could not be more pleased with the results; friends and relatives alike look at me and say, ‘you look like you have been on a very long and relaxing holiday.’ If asked, I would recommend your facility without hesitation, and have done so. Thank you so very much for everything.” —Eyelid Lift Patient

Lower Eyelid Lift

Fat pads and/or dark circles around the lower eyelids can age even a young face. Sagging lower eyelids result from aging as well as genetics, making lower eyelid surgery popular with men and women of all ages. A lower lid blepharoplasty will reduce the appearance of aging and tiredness removing dark circles and fat pads which detract from your appearance. The results are dramatic.

Lower Eyelid Lift Options

One of two incisions can be used. The traditional incision (called “transcutaneous blepharoplasty”) is made just below the eyelashes and extends outwardly into one of the crow’s feet lines. Through this incision excess skin and fat can be removed if necessary. Lower eyelid tone can be improved with a canthopexy and suspension of the orbicularis oculi muscle.

The other surgical option (called “transconjunctival blepharoplasty”) alone is used primarily for patients who have excess fat of the lower eyelids with little or no excess skin. Young women or men with puffy lower eyelids are ideal for this procedure. An incision is made on the inside of the lower eyelid and fat, not skin, can be removed. The incision is not visible. A chemical peel or laser resurfacing can safely be performed at the same time to improve fine wrinkling of the skin. If the patient has more skin than can be removed with re-surfacing, a small amount of skin can be removed as well, leaving an inconspicuous incision just beneath the eyelashes.

Lower Eyelid Lift Recovery

Lower lid blepharoplasty takes approximately 30 to 75 minutes depending on the extent of the procedure.
