Chin Augmentation New Jersey
Chin Augmentation New Jersey Introduction
Facial beauty is associated with attractive anatomic contours and balance. Harmony between the chin and other facial features is key to a pleasing appearance for both men and women.
Defined facial features, including a properly-sized chin, are considered attractive in youth as well as during the aging process. The underlying skeletal foundation provides this definition and structure to the face. In a patient with a “weak chin,” chin augmentation allows Dr. Parker to create more chin definition and better facial harmony.
Chin augmentation, performed by a skilled and experienced board certified plastic surgeon, can be one of the most rewarding plastic surgery procedures. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there were 10,734 chin augmentation procedures performed on men and women across the country in 2012. Patients often report a significant increase in their self-confidence. Recovery after chin implant surgery is relatively quick—especially with the Parker Center’s Rapid Recovery Program.

Chin augmentation can be done by itself to build out a weak chin, or in conjunction with other procedures to balance the face. Rhinoplasty to correct the shape of the nose—or procedures to improve the jaw and neckline, such as liposuction of the neck, face lift, or neck lift—can enhance the results of chin augmentation.
Computer imaging during a plastic surgery consultation
During your consultation with Dr. Parker you will meet with our expert photo imager Liz. She will first take color digital photos of you. Liz is an expert in Computer Imaging and will make changes to your pictures, under the direction of Dr. Parker, to give you an idea what you will look like after chin augmentation.

If other procedures are under consideration such as rhinoplasty, face lift or neck lift, these can be “imaged” as well. These images visually convey to the patient Dr. Parker’s treatment plan and serve as a great communication tool. In fact, Dr. Parker reviews these images the night before surgery, brings them to the operating room and uses them as an artist does sketches while sculpting.
Liz will also show you many before and after photographs of patients who have previously undergone the procedure you are considering.
Chin Augmentation New Jersey Surgery & Recovery
A ¾ inch incision hidden just beneath the chin is used to insert an extended, tapered silicone chin implant. This implant quickly adheres to the jawbone, looks and feels like a real chin.
It takes about 20 minutes to perform a chin augmentation and the procedure can be done under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation administered by our board certified anesthesiologist. There is very little pain. Sutures are removed within five days. Swelling and discoloration subside within several days. Patients can return to normal activities in three to four days and exercise in 10 to 14 days.
Enhancing a Chin Augmentation with Neck Contouring
The results of a chin augmentation can be dramatically enhanced with a neck contouring procedure. Also known as cervicoplasty or “neck lift,” this plastic surgery procedure removes loose or excess skin under the chin and tightens the underlying muscle, resulting in a more aesthetically pleasing neckline and chin profile. Patients who choose a chin augmentation with a neck contouring procedure are typically very pleased with the results.
