A New Generation of Silicone Gel Implants
The FDA recently approved a new, improved generation of silicone gel-filled breast implants. Silicone gel implants were previously only available to patients undergoing reconstructive surgery, but now all women over the age of 21 considering breast enhancement surgery have the option to choose either silicone or saline-filled breast implants. Silicone gel implants are made of a cohesive, gelatin-like substance that holds together uniformly while still retaining the feel of natural breast tissue.
