Every summer for the last five years Consuelo would consider having a facelift.  New Jersey resident and school teacher, she was 59-years old and hated looking in the mirror. She looked tired, even with makeup and 8 hours sleep.

“Mommy Makeover” is an umbrella term for a series of procedures to correct problems caused by pregnancy, and it has taken the cosmetic surgery field by storm. “The ravages of pregnancy can take on a variety of forms,” says New Jersey plastic surgeon , Dr. Paul M. Dr. Paul M. Parker asks that you please read this and contact our Senators to oppose the Federal Cosmetic Surgery TAX

Democratic leaders in the Senate unveiled their proposal for overhauling the health care system, which includes a new 5% tax on elective cosmetic procedures. Senate Democrats argue that the tax, which was a surprise addition to the sweeping 2,074-page bill, will generate $5.8 billion over the next 10 years to be put towards the bill’s estimated $849 billion price tag. However, this tax as discriminatory, arbitrary and ineffective.

In Paramus, Facelift Procedures at the Parker Center are Popular for All Ages

A 60 year-old can look 40 and a 40 year-old can look 60. The reason for this is that genetics, environment and an individual’s skin care regimen dictate how quickly the face shows age. This is why Paramus plastic surgeon, Dr. Paul M. Parker says there is no real age requirement for a facelift procedure.

“Whatever the age, when a patient comes to me wanting a facelift, I start every consultation by handing her a mirror,” he says. “Then I say ‘Show me what’s bothering you.’” He goes on to say that if the patient points out sagging jowls and lax skin of the face and neck, a facelift will help the situation. If the patient expresses concern about fine wrinkling of the skin, he recommends non-surgical treatments at The Beaura Spa, the onsite medical spa where Dr. Parker serves as Medical Director.

Bergen County Plastic Surgery News: Study finds Divorce, Antidepressants and Weight Fluctuations Add Years to the Face

While most people think the aging process is solely related to genetics, an interesting study conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) now shows that environmental factors such as stress and weight fluctuations also leave their mark on the face.

We felt it was important to share this study with our Bergen County plastic surgery patients, as it shows people must take active and proactive steps to keep their face looking as young as possible.

This study specifically followed groups of twins that happen to share the same DNA, yet were exposed to different stressors such as divorce, antidepressant use and weight fluctuations.

Face Lift, New Jersey, Turned The Cycle of Family Genetics- A Husband and Wife Story

Gary:
Looking at your aging relatives can be a great source of motivation. My family has a history of sagging jowls, so I knew exactly where my appearance was heading. As a 61 year old self employed architect, I wasn’t worried about climbing a corporate ladder or looking younger to save my job…I just wanted to avoid looking like my father too soon. My wife, Pat, was really supportive.

Pat:
Supportive? My opinion is that men view cosmetic surgery the same way they view marriage. Left to their own devices, nothing would ever happen. They don’t decide until someone straight up tells them what they need to do. I knew Gary would look much better with some facial rejuvenation.

Combination Procedures offer Optimal Results

team_photo_janet_04.jpgSometimes, combining cosmetic procedures can offer great advantages. Anne initially wanted a facelift, but through consultation with New Jersey Plastic Surgeon Dr. Parker, decided a facelift alone would not meet her expectations, and a necklift combined with a facelift would offer the results she was truly seeking. Though scheduling both surgeries at separate times was an option to consider, Anne, a busy real estate agent, didn’t want the downtime separate surgeries would entail.
