A "weak chin" can make an appropriately sized nose stand out. This imbalance with the nose and other facial features can be improved with chin augmentation. A ¾ inch incision hidden just beneath the chin is used to insert an extended, tapered silicone chin implant. This implant quickly adheres to the jawbone, looks and feels like a real chin.

It takes about 20 minutes to perform a chin augmentation and the procedure can be done under local anesthesia with sedation. There is very little pain. Sutures are removed within five days. Swelling and discoloration subside within several days. Patients can return to normal activities in three to four days and exercise in 10 to 14 days.
